Vardan Minasian to head national team till 2012
By Armenian Football Federation president Ruben Hayrapetian’s decree, Vardan Minasian, coach of the ‘Pyunik’ club, is appointed as chief coach of Armenia’s national football team, said in the statement by AFF press office.
According to report, Vardan Minasian will keep his new post till 2012 – by the end of the qualifying rounds for the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship.
However, there is not a single word whether Vardan Minasian will combine two jobs, continuing coach ‘Pyunik’ team, or whether he is going only work with the national team. It is likely the first version to be more trustworthy. Taking into account the fact that the national team mostly consists of players of the ‘Pyunik’ team, then Vardan Minasian can control the process from the national team interests’ point of view.
But another question is that AFF President cannot appoint national team’s chief coachers. It is contrary to the Charter. He is only authorized to nominate someone, while the executive committee says yes or no to nominee. Chief coach of Armenia’s national football team cannot be appointed by AFF president decree.
