Testing operations over new power block kicked off
Testing operations over the new power block have been launching at the Yerevan TCC (thermal power station) since January 2010, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy told Aysor’s correspondent. The block is expected to be put into operation by the mid-April, he said.
It’s worth mentioning, that the project’s construction works started in summer of 2008 in assistance with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation which had provided the project with $250 million loan.
The 272 megawatt Yerevan TCC is expected to produce around 1.5 billion kw / hour of energy a year. European company «Alstom» and Japanese «Fuji» companies’ technologies let produce the energy, cutting down gas expenses. Taking into account the growth of gas prizes, this is a very important development.
