First MTS-branded handset introduced
VivaCell-MTS has introduced the first MTS-branded handset, a low-price MTC 236, conditioned by customer demand for high quality affordable mobile handsets.
VivaCell-MTS, the subsidiary of Mobile TeleSystems OJSC, began selling mobile phones under MTS brand. MTC 236 is the first mobile phone to be sold in Armenia under the MTS brand. The phone was specially designed by China's ZTE Corporation for Vodafone and is being sold under the MTS brand as part of the strategic partnership between the two operators. MTC 236 is an entry-level phone, priced at AMD 11,900.
VivaCell-MTS is also developing its own retail chain, using the capacity of its service centres across the country. Offering of handsets through the VivaCell-MTS retai0l network is key to subscriber acquisition, usage growth and successful customer retention. It will help drive greater customer traffic to VivaCell-MTS stores and strengthen the Company’s competitive advantage.
Introduction of a low-price MTC 236 is conditioned by customer demand for high quality affordable feature rich mobile handsets. This classic style easy-to-use phone is equipped with color screen, polyphonic melodies, flashlight and all the necessary features for everyday communication. MTC 236 can only be used with a VivaCell-MTS SIM card, and it is for sale with 1-year warranty.
“We will continue to expand our portfolio of affordable handsets. The target of this new offer, the MTS 236, is the low-income population of the country looking for easy solution for mobile communications. The pensioners, students, high grade school children can benefit from this offer. As a global operator with local flavor, VivaCell-MTS is also using private-labeling, and today we introduced to the market the first such handset – the MTC 236. We plan introducing to the market more branded handsets to satisfy the need of different segments of the market,” commented VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.
