The spokesman of Obama shocked everyone again
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs made good on an outstanding bet on Friday, wearing a Canadian hockey jersey to a briefing, ABC informs.
He was honouring a bet with his Canadian counterpart after the USA lost a match.
The bet was made with his counterpart in the prime minister's office, Dimitri Soudas, over the Olympic hockey games. Gibbs joked the winner was "somewhere several hundred miles north laughing."
Gibbs joked his attire "does signal casual Friday" at the White House, before turning around to show his last name and the No. 39 on the back of the red-and-white jersey featuring an iconic maple leaf, the USA today says.
Just a few minutes later though, Gibbs unveiled a surprise and is now sporting a USA jersey underneath the Canadian jersey. #10 for year 2010.
Gibbs said President Obama will pay off his own Olympic bet with Harper. One case each of Molson, Canada's favorite brew, and Yuengling, from America's oldest brewery in Pottsville, Pa., will be delivered to Harper. Gibbs joked that Soudas might be drinking the beer himself, the USA today reports
