Three Swiss pilots make a speed record for flying around world
Three Swiss pilots, aviator Riccardo Mortara and his crew, made a speed record for flying around the world in a private jet covering 20,000 nautical miles over 33 countries in only record 58 hours. This time beats Steve Fossett’s time of 67 hours and one minute, which was achieved in a flight without stops in 2006.
Riccardo Mortara flew at 06:12 UTC on Friday morning from Geneva to Bahrain, Colombo, Macau, Osaka, Petropavlovsk, Anchorage, Las Vegas and Montreal, before having to divert away from Iceland because of a volcanic eruption, and returned Sunday at 16:06 UTC.
