Moscow blasts: second female suicide bomber identified
Russian officials said Tuesday that they had identified the second female suicide bomber as a young woman from the volatile region of Dagestan Mariam Sharipova, who was born in 1982.
"The terrorist who blew herself up at the Lubyanka metro station was Mariam Sharipova, born in 1982. According to our information, she was the wife of Vagapov Magomedali, leader of acting on territory of Dagestan rebels,” a spokesman for Russia's FSB security service told journalists.
Two female suicide bombers are jointly responsible for blasts that shook crowded subway stations in central Moscow during the morning rush hour on March 29. The blasts killed 40 people, and injured nearly 90 others; of these 30 people were in serious condition.
