Georgian opposition names candidates for post of Tbilisi’s mayor
Six oppositional Georgian parties, involved in “National Council”, started on Tuesday a three-day comparative candidates survey to study the public’s opinion to contest candidates for the Tbilisi mayor’s post. The candidate is expected to be either Zviyad Dzidziguri or Cobu Davitashvili (People’s Party).
“We need more aggressive, radical, and principled candidate,” said in interview with ‘New Generation’ paper Conservative Kahka Kukava.
Meanwhile, Vzglyad paper reports that Levan Gachechiladze, candidate, whose presidential aspirations failed, and co-chair of the ‘Alliance for Georgia’ Sozar Soubari continue their consultations on consolidation of the Georgian opposition and establishment of the joint platform for local elections, reported to be held on May 30. In a bid to make these plans come true, they will meet with ex-speaker of Parliament, leader of the ‘United Georgia Democratic Movement’ Nino Burjanadze on April 6.
