Obama thanks Georgia’s President and accuses him of US support
"President Obama called Georgian President Saakashvili today to thank President Saakashvili for Georgia’s significant contribution to the international effort in Afghanistan, as the Georgian battalion deploys this month alongside American Marines in Helmand.
President Barack Obama relayed the strong support of the United States for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity," the White House said, describing a telephone conversation between Obama and Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili.
Obama and Saakashvili discussed the importance of all sides avoiding provocative actions to build stability in the region. Saakashvili thanked President Obama for America's continued assistance in helping to build an enduring liberal democracy in Georgia and for the invitation to participate in the summit in nuclear security.
