Poland to announce presidential Election Day on April 21
Poland’s acting president, parliament speaker Bronislaw Komorowski said Wednesday that he will announce the date of presidential elections on April 21.
The Election Day will be announced on April 21, three days after Lech Kaczynski’s state funeral. The funeral of Lech Kaczynski and his wife is scheduled for Saturday; bodies of the presidential couple are reported to lie in state this week to allow people to pay their last respects to country’s leader.
Late Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his wife were killed in a plane crash at a western Russian airport early on April 10 when they along with dozens of nation’s other top officials were traveling to Russia for events, timed to the 70th anniversary of the massacre of about 20,000 Polish officers, committed in the village of Katyn during WW2.
