Kyrgyzstan: gunfire at deposed president's rally
Gunfire broke out today at a rally in Kyrgyzstan, where the deposed president Kurmanbek Bakiyev was speaking to supporters in Osh, the largest city in the southern region of the country where Bakiyev has most of his support.
Kurmanbek Bakiyev was quickly hustled into a car and driven away; one of Bakiyev's brothers, Kanybek Bakiyev, told the Associated Press that the deposed president was uninjured and was returning to his home in the village of Teyit, about a two-hour drive from the rally site.
There were no apparent injuries in the crowd.
