Death toll of Earthquake in China reaches 617
An earthquake, which measured 6.9 by the U.S. Geological Survey and was reported as having a magnitude of 7.1, struck the Tibetan region of China's Qinghai province on Wednesday, killing at least 589 people and injuring more than 10,000, damaging houses and buildings. According to local officials, death toll of the victims has risen to 617 people; and, as many people are still under ruins, the death toll is expected to raise more.
Chinese officials said 313 are believed to be still missed; about 9,000 people had been injured, including 970 in serious condition.
