Contemporary system for the energy security in Armenia

The working group on elaboration of the energy security doctrine convened its first sitting today chaired by Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia Arthur Baghdasaryan.

Elaboration of the doctrine is envisaged by the “Armenian National Security Strategy”.

Attaching importance to energy security as one of the components of national security of our country, Arthur Baghdasaryan noted that the energy security doctrine should be primarily aimed at ensuring Armenia’s energetic self-sufficiency in both sort-term and long-term perspectives.

“Today in our country the issues of energetic development are in hopeful condition and Armenia has all the bases not only to secure the energetic self-sufficiency of our country but also to export energy which of great importance for the economy of our country. … We should be able to import contemporary system for the energy security using the best international experiences,” Arthur Baghdasaryan said.

Participants of the sitting decided to complete the development of the provisions of the doctrine within a month and submit the document for ratification by October, the Press Office of the Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia informed.
