Nigeria's President dies at 58
Nigeria's President Umaru Yar'Adua died Wednesday at 58 after long illness, the presidential spokesperson said.
Umaru Yar'Adua hasn’t been seen in public since he left the country in November last year, reportedly in order to receive treatment at a Swiss clinic for an acute heart condition. He returned to Abuja, the Nigerian capital, in February, when an ambulance transported him from Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport to the Aso Rock presidential villa.
Under the terms of the Nigerian constitution, Goodluck Jonathan, who was an acting President since February, will be sworn in as head of state.
