Russia: blasts at Raspadskaya mine kill 30
At least 30 people were killed in the weekend blasts at the Raspadskaya mine in western Siberia, Russia, local media reported citing Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu.
“30 people are known to have died, and there are 60 more people underground we have no information about. We continue the search operation and hope to rescue somebody," Sergei Shoigu said.
A series of blasts rocked one of Russia’s largest coal mines, the Raspadskaya, in Mejdurechensk town of the Kemerovo region.
Prosecutors announced Sunday that they had opened a criminal investigation into the causes of the explosions.
