Vladimir Putin arrives in Raspadskaya mine disaster zone
Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has arrived in Mejdurechensk town of the Kemerovo region of Russia, where a series of blasts occurred at the Raspadskaya mine, killing at least 43 people. The searching operations are ongoing; however, 47 people are still missing underground.
Vladimir Putin is reported to learn the search operations and hold a meeting with a commission, aiming at assisting and supporting families of the killed and injured workers, and implementing a disaster recovery plan. A detailed report on the ongoing operation will be delivered to Putin at the meeting.
The blasts rocked one of Russia’s largest coal mines on May 8.
