Spain closes 7 airports because of ash cloud
The Spanish authorities had to close 7 airports because of a cloud of volcanic ash drifting from Iceland.
Four airports in the Canary islands and three in southern Spain shut down on Tuesday morning, officials said.
The Spanish national airport authority Aena said Spain still has restrictions on aircraft flying between 20,000 feet and 35,000 feet above the ground, mainly affecting trans-Atlantic flights to and from other European countries.
"We do not know when they could reopen," an Aena spokesperson said.
Up to 20 airports in Spain were closed at weekend because of the ash.
