Burqa is contrary to nation’s values, say French lawmakers
The French lawmakers approved a resolution on Tuesday asserting that face-covering Muslim veils, burqa, are contrary to the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity on which France is founded.
The nonbinding resolution, which passed 434-0 in the French National Assembly, does not make the wearing of a full veil or burqa illegal, but gives public officials support when asking people to remove it, CNN reported.
