Ukraine won't recognize Abkhazia, South Ossetia, FM says
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Constantine Grishenko said that Ukraine won’t recognize the independence of the break-away Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
When asked by the corresponded of Kommersant-Ukraine paper whether the administration considers recognition of these states, Constantine Grishenko said: “We consider the territorial integrity and inviolability of frontiers a principal issue; that’s all.”
It’s worth mentioning that Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych didn’t give a concrete answer to a question about Ukraine’s position over the issue of recognition of the independence of the break-away republics of Georgia when spoke in Strasbourg late in April. He said that Ukraine is ready to support the process of “equality of the values of democracy, and rights of the nations, who live on the territories of the frozen conflicts.”
