Film-maker refuses to accept an Order out of Saakashvili’s hands
Famous Georgian film-maker, known also since the soviet times, Lana Gogoberidze, has refused to accept the order that Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili was to hand over to her on May 26, the Day of Georgian Independence, media reported citing Maestro television.
Lana Gogoberidze doesn’t comment the situation and reasons for refusal.
It’s worth mentioning that several years ago 71-year-old director Lana Gogoberidze served as Georgia’s Ambassador to the Council of Europe.
On occasion of the Independence Day, Georgian President Saakashvili awarded more than 20 persons of culture for their efforts and contributions. The awarding ceremony took place on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, on Wednesday.
