George Bush joins Facebook
Ex president of the United States George W. Bush opened a page on Facebook, joining the fast-growing social network on Wednesday. His profile page attracted more than 28,000 fans and followers within its first few hours.
Bush’s first post on Facebook touted his accomplishments since leaving office in January 2009. "President Bush has remained active," it was written in the third person, suggesting the page is being maintained by someone other than George Bush, as is common with Facebook pages for public figures.
"He has visited 20 states and 8 countries; given over 65 speeches; launched the George W. Bush Presidential Center; participated in 4 policy conferences through The Bush Institute; finished the first draft of his memoir, 'Decision Points'; and partnered with (former) President (Bill) Clinton to establish the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund."
The 43rd U.S. President put on the page links to his wife Laura Bush's page, and to the The George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas.
