Paul McCartney, Barack Obama sing Michelle for Mrs Obama
Sir Paul McCartney, 67, has performed at the White House after picking up the Prize for Popular Song from U.S. President Barack Obama.
The former Beatle was part of a concert in his honour featuring Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello, Herbie Hancock, The Jonas Brothers, Faith Hill and Emmylou Harris.
“Getting this prize would be good enough,” McCartney said, accepting the Prize. He added smiling: “But getting it from this president ...”
Among the songs he performed for the Obama family was the ballad Michelle, with lyrics directed to the First Lady. This is a “… song I have been itching to do at the White House,” said McCartney. When McCartney was singing Michell, Obama joined him not taking his eyes off First Lady Michelle Obama, and the song became a love ballad performed by President Obama for his wife.
