US seeks for UN vote on sanctions against Iran by next week
The United States said Thursday it hopes the UN Security Council will vote on tough new sanctions against Iran by June 20 or June 21, State Department spokesman Philip Crowley told reporters.
"We are going to put forward this resolution in the coming days. And we expect all responsible members of the international community to support the resolution," he said.
Last month the United States introduced a draft resolution to impose tough new sanctions on Iran, saying that it had the support of Russia, China, Britain and France. The six, including Russia, US, China, France, Germany and Great Britain, have been discussing the draft resolution on new sanctions against Iran.
