Armenian delegation attends OSCE Office in Vienna
On June 4, at the OSCE office in Vienna, Deputy Chief of the Armenian Police Artur Osikian presented a report on 2010-2011 reforming programme in the Armenian police.
Welcoming Artur Osikian, Kazakhstan’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE Kairat Abrakhmanov appreciated steps taken by Armenia towards reforms and said he hopes the successful implementation of the program will become an example for other countries.
Artur Osikian read out a detailed report on Armenian government’s programme and stressed that the programme was designed on the basis of experience of some OSCE member states. He said that the reforms’ goal is to increase the efficiency of police and to strengthen public’s trust to police. Osikian said that Armenian authorities will perform commitment to the realization plan and will cooperate with all interested international organisations, including OSCE. He pointed at the important role of the OSCE Yerevan Office regarding to the issue.
Assistant to the President of Armenia, Gevork Kostanian, said at the meeting that the Programme of Reforms in police is in the center of focus of the country’s president.
On the same day Armenian delegates met with OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut. Parties talked about reforms in Armenia in current and upcoming years and paid an attention to the item of cooperation between Armenia and OSCE. Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said that the organisation, as before, will support the reform programs in Armenia.
