Turkish President calls to join efforts against global challenges
Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul called participants of the high-level summit on interaction and confidence building measures in Asia, taking place in Istanbul, to join forces to fight against global challenges, Russia’s RIA Novosti quoted him as saying Tuesday.
“Terrorism, crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking -- these are common threats to humanity, which have no borders,” he said in his address to the summit. “It’s time to join efforts to meet these challenges,” he said.
It’s worth mentioning that presidency at the summit goes to Turkey for two years, and in this relation Gul stressed that within the chairing period Turkey will pay a special attention to the issue of security in Asia, standing from multilateral cooperation and development of dialogue.
“The dialogue is the important key to stability and security in Asia. Our dialogue should be aimed at peace and development in the region and in the world,” he said.
