On 10 June President of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan partook at the opening of the first session of the 5th convocation National Assembly and delivered a welcoming speech there.
In his speech President of the Artsakh Republic said in particular:
"First of all I want to congratulate the newly-elected deputies of the 5th convocation National Assembly and wish great success in realizing this responsible and very important for our republic mission.
On 23 May Artsakh people once again displayed high discipline and civil stand giving their votes for the sake of the strong and prosperous future of Artsakh. The National Assembly deputies play a great role in creating that future. People gave their vote of confidence to you and you are obliged to justify it in every way possible.
Among the pivotal directions of the parliamentary activity are the improvement of the republic's legal field, deepening cooperation with other power branches, strengthening democratic principles, as well as securing worthy appearance before the civilized world and integration into the international community. This work should be based first of all on the state interests of Artsakh corresponding to the letter and spirit of the Constitution.
Principle, active and constructive activity is required from the all political forces presented in the National Assembly. Tolerant and sympathetic attitude towards one another will greatly contribute to successful and efficient activity.
I want to express gratitude to the deputies of the 4th convocation National Assembly for the carried out activity.
A number of laws that regulate the life of our republic have been passed as a result of your lawmaking activities. It is also due to your efforts that our country has had its Basic Law.
Dear friends, Artsakh people once again proved both their ability to master their own fate, build free, independent, democratic country and make this path irreversible for our republic.
I congratulate the newly elected National Assembly once again and wish efficient work."
