Consequence of bad work

Armenian Hotel Association Chairman Hakob Hakobyan and Chairman of Union of Incoming Tour Operators of Armenia Robert Minasyan spoke about tourism sphere problems in Armenia today, at a meeting with reporters.

According to Hakob Hakobyan, the start of 2010 tourism season is “promising” “and more tourists have visited Armenia as compared with the same season of 2009.”

Robert Minasyan, in his turn, said that though 570 000 tourists visited Armenia last year, nevertheless, according to him, we should differ between tourists, people visiting Armenia on business, those coming to rest with their relatives, etc.
 

“In the general number of visitors, organized tourism fluctuates between 15 and 20 percent,” R. Minasyan stressed.

The speaker also presented the Statistical Service of Republic of Armenia data, according to which, hotel occupancy fluctuates between 25 and 30 percent in Armenia.

The average annual occupancy of Yerevan center hotels fluctuates up to 70%,” Hotel Association Chairman said adding that Armenian regions’ hotel occupancy fluctuates between 20 and 40 percent.

“We need to make organized tourism active in our country, the number of tourists does not grow as compared with past years,” Robert Minasyan stressed noting that it is consequence of bad work.
