Israeli authorities announce commission to investigate raid
Israel made a statement Sunday that an independent public commission, including two foreign observers, would investigate its deadly raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla in which nine Turkish activists were killed and many others injured.
Israeli authorities said that retired Israeli supreme court judge Yaakov Tirkel would chair the commission. Irish Nobel Peace Prize winner David Trimble and a former judge advocate general of the Canadian armed forces Ken Watkin were named as observers.
The final decision on investigation of the raid on pro-Palestinian activists occurred on May 31 is expected to be made on Monday.
