Argentina's FM unexpectedly resigns for ‘personal motives’
Argentina's Foreign Minister Jorge Taiana, a former political prisoner, has unexpectedly resigned after more than four years in the post. He said is resigning for "personal motives" but Argentine news media are reporting that he was frustrated by foreign policy differences with Argentinean President Cristina Fernandez.
Jorge Taiana became foreign minister in December 2005, during the presidency of Nestor Kirchner, who is the husband of the current president.
It is reported that Argentina's Ambassador to the United States, Hector Timerman, will become the new foreign minister of the country.
