Eight Turkish soldiers killed in Kurdish attack
Eight Turkish soldiers were killed and 14 others were wounded overnight in an attack on the army post by Kurdish rebels in southeast Turkey, near the border with Iraq, local officials said.
The attack took place at a military post near the city of Semdinli close to the Iraqi border. Officials said in an online statement that Turkish military responded with helicopters and reportedly killed 12 rebels.
The Kurdish forces have been starting their struggle since 1984, sparking a conflict with Ankara that has claimed some 45,000 lives.
