Iranian, North Korean nuclear programs on G8 agenda
World leaders have been arriving in Canada since Thursday for critical talks including highlights from Iranian and North Korean nuclear programs to the debt crisis engulfing Europe.
The leaders were scheduled to get down to real business Friday morning as the Group of Eight (G8) bloc of wealthy countries convenes in the resort region of Muskoka, about 150 kilometers north of Toronto. The session will be followed by a summit of the larger Group of 20 bloc, which includes major developing powers; the G20 summit will take place in Toronto over the weekend.
“The nuclear challenges are still real,” said spokesperson to Canadian Prime Minister. “Iran and North Korea’s failure to fulfill its obligations in nuclear sphere as well as incident related to the sinking of a South Korean naval vessel threaten the global security. These highlights will be the key ones on agenda as they demand on coordinated position of the G8 leaders,” he said.
