Shevardnadze didn’t approve of Stalin’s monument’s demontage
Former Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze is against the demontage of the monument of Iosif Stalin. The decision of demontaging the monument from the central square has been made up by the authorities of the country. Shevardnadze thinks it is unacceptable, the sources inform.
According to the source the former President has reminded that the monument has been preserved since the years of Stalin worship. Nikita Khrushchev was against demontaging at that time too.
The monument of Stalin in Gori’s central square has been established in 1952 and has been demontaged on June 25 in 2010 at night. They had decided to move the monument to Stalin’e Museum-house which was close to that place.
Instead of Stalin’s monument in the central square of Gori will be constructed a monument dedicated to the war occurred in 2008, in August, as well as the victims of Stalin repressions.
