North Korea says it will bolster its nuclear deterrent
North Korea’s officials announced Monday that the country would bolster its nuclear weaponry in a "newly developed way" in response to what it called U.S. hostility and recent disturbing developments.
"The recent disturbing development on the Korean peninsula underscores the need to bolster the nuclear deterrent in a newly developed way to cope with the U.S. persistent hostile policy toward [the North] and military threat toward it," country’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It hasn’t been elaborated in the statement how the country would strengthen its nuclear capacity, while experts and analysts point at the manufacturing of bombs based on newer programs, such as uranium-enrichment or nuclear fusion.
