Armenian Deputy Prime Minister receives Damtu Desaleyne

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan today received newly appointed representative of Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Armenia Damtu Desaleyne.

According to Ministry of Territorial Administration press office, the Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the guest on assumption of the mission and expressed hope that efficient cooperation with UNHCR office in Armenia will continue and further progress will be achieved.

According to him, the office has always supported the Armenian government in solution of refugees problems. He mentioned experience of creation of social houses as good example of cooperation. Mr. Gevorgyan stressed that refugees problems have always been in the focus of Armenian government attention.

It was mentioned that though some steps were undertaken to provide refugees with apartments, the problem is not solved completely, a conference of international donor organizations is planned in Armenia for that purpose.

D. Desaleyne expressed readiness to spare no efforts to continue cooperation and carry out new joint initiatives, ideas.

The newly appointed representative of Office of UNHCR in Armenia also expressed willingness to support preparation and holding of the conference. Other organization issues regarding the conference were also discussed.
