Osh, Jalal-Abad to be restored on account of Russian money
Kyrgyz towns Osh and Jalal Abad, which were seriously damaged in clashes erupted between ethnic groups (causing hundreds of casualties) will be restored on account of Russian funds, Russian media reported citing Vice-Premier of the Interim Kyrgyz government Temir Sariyev.
“The interim government made a decision to direct $100 million from last year’s Russian loan to commission on restoration and development of Osh and Jalal Abad,” Temir Sariyev is quoted as saying.
He also said that the Russian loan is the only free found in Kyrgyz budget.
Russia provided Kyrgyzstan with a $300 million loan in February 2009 at times of presidency of Kurmanbek Bakiyev. There was also provided a $150 million grant while the dept was canceled.
