EEC summit kicked off in Astana
Presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan launched Monday the Eurasian Economic Community Summit in Astana. Among summit’s attendants are officials from Armenia and Ukraine which act as states-observers. The Summit is taking place at the Acorda Palace.
Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev welcomed the guests and said that this year’s meeting is symbolic as the Eurasian Economic Community turns 10 years. He also stressed that the Treat on establishment of the organisation was signed in Astana.
“Kazakhstan has made all efforts to establish working-conditions in atmosphere of kindheartedness,” said Nazarbayev. He added that presidents will discuss items of agenda which will be followed by a discussion with members of the Commission of the Customs Union.
The session will be followed by a press conference.
Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan arrived in Kazakhstan Sunday to participate in the summit.
