Constitution needs to be amended: CC member
The Constitution of Armenia is not used completely, and it needs to be amended. Constitutional Court member Felix Tokhyan told reporters today.
According to the specialist, court judgements should be based on the Constitution. Meanwhile he mentioned that the court is not guided by the Constitution at present.
“A person and his dignity, his basic rights and generations freedom, general well-being, civil solidarity are supreme universal values, however, they are depreciated and violated,” Mr. Tokhyan said adding that this is caused by impunity.
CC member considers that the Constitution adopted in 2005 was a large step towards establishment of democracy in the country, however, legislative shortcomings hinder their complete implementation.
According to Mr. Tokhyan, it is mostly social rights that do not work today.
