Eight people wounded in clashes with Wahhabis in Azerbaijan
Clashes erupted between local residents of Tertersky region of Azerbaijan and migrants from Shotlani Village, local media reported.
Local residents accused migrants of spreading Wahhabism; it is not clear whether this caused the incident. In clashes 8 people were wounded. Police detained 4 persons. Two policemen were also wounded.
Clashes erupted at nearly 3 pm on the central street; the confronting sides were armed by shovels, pitchforks, axes; there were reportedly head gunshots, according to APA agency.
Some fighters tried to set fire to some sales outlets; however, firefighter rescuer team extinguished the fire.
The reports about clashes were confirmed by Azerbaijani officials; however, police didn’t comment the incident.
Country’s military are sent to the place in order to prevent any further incidents. Local residents told media that the Wahhabis are responsible for incident.
