We want to be champions, says David Villa
Spain’s team must become a world champion, told media David Villa, the leading scorer among all players in South Africa, with his five goals.
"I'm happy with my five goals because they've been decisive," said Villa. "It's also different because when you win by a lot of goals it doesn't hold the same feeling as winning this way."
Villa labelled the win [over team of Germany] as Spain's best of the finals thus far before declaring that Spain deserves their place in history.
"This has been the most complete game we've done in the World Cup, with chances, with more punch," he quoted as saying by AS.
"Today we played very well and we were forced back and across. We went little by little, the goal has been slow in coming, but then Puyol came and scored.
"We had already made history, but this is really making history, this is incredible. It's hard to get here but Spain deserve it. We have worked very hard since the European Championships. We want to be champions."
