There’ll be adequate response in case of Azerbaijan’s aggression

Azerbaijan is vulnerable like a glass box in sense of advocacy and legal framework, told Iravunq paper Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharian.

“Azerbaijan’s propaganda comes from a simple formulation that the essence of the issue is not a right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh, but territorial clams between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This formulation distorts the essence of the problem,” said Kocharian.

He said that Nagorno Karabakh had become an independent state ahead of Azerbaijan in the Soviet-era times.

“I mean that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, there were two equal states in the territory of the former Soviet Republic of Azerbaijan, of these one is the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, and another – the Republic of Azerbaijan. One state is recognized by the international community, and the other – no. Moreover, Azerbaijan had committed the ethnic cleanings which are the most seriousmilitary crime; Azerbaijan has been denying Nagorno Karabakh people’s right to self-determination while the UN Charter considers this right to be a key one. Principle of the territorial integrity isn’t a one of the priority value,” said Kocharian.

“When I said that one shouldn’t throw stones at the neighbor’s house when your own house is glass-made, I was keeping in view exactly this.

“What for the military aspect, then in case of aggression Azerbaijan will surely be adequately responded. And we, and not only we but Azerbaijan’s authorities as well, have no single doubt about this,” stressed Kocharian.
