The June 18-19 attack organised by Iham Aliev, says Kocharian

Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharian said that Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliev is responsible for the deadly armed attack that took place at night of June 18-19 in the northern part of the Line of Contact between Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh, resulting in casualties. Four Armenian soldiers were killed in the attack, when armed Azerbaijani diversionists crossed the border; four other Armenian soldiers were wounded; in the fight between the sides one Azerbaijani soldier was killed.

Shavarsh Kocharian’s comment came after the announcement of Azerbaijani President’s decision to award posthumously the killed Azerbaijani diversionist Mubariz Ibragimov honoring him as the National Hero of Azerbaijan.

“The organizer of the sabotage is the one who hands over awards. Actually, Aliev awarded [the soldier] for implementation of his order. Regrettably, our neighbors have been bringing into being a character when they honor those who committed the Sumgait Massacres of 1988, when they glorify an officer Ramil Safarov, who killed a sleeping Armenian officer at night [in Budapest],” said Kocharian.

“Unfortunately, Azerbaijan doesn’t understand that under these circumstances they are preparing not soldiers, but killers, who sneak with a bloody ax in their hands. I wonder if the Azerbaijani leadership wishes for such kind of image for Azerbaijan,” added Kocharian.
