Karabakh conflict requires a legal solution, says Hovhannisian
“New ways of settlement to the Karabakh conflict mean a new policy inside Armenia, as Armenia of our days with its political and economical structure and relations, is unable to find other ways. It’s clear that Armenia won’t accept a policy of senseless concessions,” told media leader of the ARFD Vahan Hovhannisian.
He said that Levon Ter-Petrosian, a supporter of concessions, and others who think the same way must be clearly responded.
“Ter-Petrosian thought so in 1991, and in 1992, and in 1993, and in 1994 when a ceasefire agreement was signed, when we forced Azerbaijan to accept peace. Those times Azerbaijan was looking for mediators to sign the agreement. If Ter-Petrosian and others had different mood, then everything would be finally solved, as at the moment of signing the armistice agreement we could get more,” said Hovhannisian.
He stressed that this was the reason that caused the wrong way of talks. However, current parties of negotiations shouldn’t justify themselves, but should try to change the direction of talks, he said: “We were enforced the political decision of the issue, while it requires a legal decision,” added politician.
