“NKR recognition by Armenia should not be just a goal in itself”
Irrespective of the process of Kosovo recognition, the Nagorno Karabakh Republic will continue the process of recognition of its independence. NKR President Bako Sahakyan told reporters the day before, as reported by Aysor correspondent from Artsakh.
Artsakh leader expressed satisfaction with the negotiation process carried out by Armenia noting that the international community has repeatedly hailed Official Yerevan’s policy unlike policy of Baku.
Addressing the Minsk Group activities the NKR President prioritized not its format or countries that can support the problem resolution but Artsakh’s return to the negotiations.
Bako Sahakyan stressed that recognition of Artsakh independence by Armenia should not be just a goal in itself or an occasion for political speculations.
Sahakyan expressed confidence that Armenia will manage to bring Stepanakert to the negotiating table.
The President noted that the negotiations should be based on compromises. “However, Artsakh people’s position is decisive in that issue,” Sahakyan said. Artsakh President also noted that country’s territories are stipulated by NKR Constitution, according to which, Lachin and Kelbajar are integral parts of Artsakh.
Bako Sahakyan said that International Court of Justice ruling specifies the prospect of NKR’s possible international recognition. According to him, Artsakh cannot completely integrate to international community until its independence is recognized internationally.
