Armenia selects a team of 14 for Youth Olympics in Singapore
Fourteen sportsmen will represent Armenia in the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore on August 14-26.
The Armenian team selected for inaugural the games will include weightlifters Smbat Margarian (in the 56 kg, Yerevan) and Gor Minasian (+85 kg, Gyumri), a shooter Roumi Vardumian (Yerevan), a gymnast Vahan Vardanian (Yerevan), a judoka David Kazarian (in the 66 kg, Vanadzor), a boxer Hrayr Matevosian (in the 60 kg, Yerevan), Varos Petrosian (wrestling in the Greco-Roman style, Gyumri), Artak Hovhannisian (wrestling freestyle, Hoktemberian), a female-athlete Diana Khubeserian (100 meters runner, Yerevan), Gevorg Papoyan (water jump, Yerevan), Edgar Babayan (canoeing and sprint, Yerevan), Anahit Barseghian (backstroke, Yerevan), Sergei Pevnev (freestyle swimming, Yerevan), and Vassil Shakhnazarian (archery, Armavir region).
The Armenian team will leave for Singapore on August 10 and will be back on August 29.
More than 3,500 athletes from 170 countries are expected to compete in the Youth Olympics which opening will take place on August 14.
