Chavez sends troops to Colombian border
Venezuela sent troops and air force to Colombian border as a preventive measure against an attack from neighboring Colombia, Reuters reported.
According to President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez, now Colombian outgoing President Alvaro Uribe “is capable of anything.” On August 7, Uribe will transfer his presidential mandate to ex-Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos who has won the presidential elections lately.
Note that relations between Venezuela and Colombia remain strained. In mid-July 2010 Bogota accused Chavez of harbouring 1500 leftist Colombian rebels in its territory. In response, Chavez broke off diplomatic relations with Colombia.
