Bomb kills for Turkish civilians in southeast Turkey
A roadside bomb laid by suspected Kurdish separatists in southeast Turkey killed four civilians on Sunday, including the former regional head of a human rights group, the state-run news agency Anatolia reported.
The agency said that the explosion took place after some members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), set fire to an oil well in Batman province.
Clashes between Turkish forces and Kurds have been increasing since the PKK called off a yearlong cease-fire in June. The PKK has been fighting for Kurdish autonomy in southeastern Turkey for more than 25 years. Some 40,000 people have died in violence and clashes between Turkish military and members of the PKK.
