Azerbaijani court passes a sentence upon believers

Today Yasamal Court of Baku passed a sentence upon a group of believers for participation in the February 13 march in Baku, Turan reported.
 

Elchin Abbasov and Seymur Huseynov were sentenced to 4 years imprisonment, Elmar Samedov, Aghali Ikhyayev and Bilal Ahmedov to 4.5 years.

“The investigation was biased, these people are innocent, while the court preferred passing a verdict taking preliminary investigation materials as a basis,” lawyer Fahraddin Mekhtiyev said.
 

Note that on February 13, 2010 Azerbaijani Police dispersed the march of believer-shiites in Baku. Author of the book “Islam in Azerbaijan” Arif Unus who by chance appeared on the scene of action mentioned that is was a peaceful action, the Police dispersed the demonstrators after getting some instructions over radio transceivers.
