Jewish Community of Armenia accuses Askerov of anti-Semitism
Chairwoman of the Jewish Community of Armenia, Rimma Varjapetian, said at today’s press conference that Famous player of the “What? Where? When?” television game and Public Relations Director of Baku Magazine, Rovshan Askerov, has been posting anti-Semitic statements on his blog.
Rimma Varjapetian told media that an open letter of the Jewish Community of Armenia to leadership of Public Russian Television has been written. The letter contains citation on Askerov’s blog in which he denies Holocaust and the 1915 Genocide of Armenians, using offensive language.
“I am watching his statements that he makes via Internet and I was deeply shocked that a person of such kind and an intellectual can make such never-ending anti-Semitic statements,” said Mrs Varjapetian. She stressed that these facts make one think how Askerov can be a member of a “What? Where? When?” team and be aired on a central Russian television channel.
Jewish Community of Armenia wrote the open letter to Russian Public Television and its Director General Constantine Ernst questioning Askerov’s participation in the famous game of intellectuals and his presence on the first Russian TV channel.
