Alcoholics on the booze at a memorial plaque to Aliev in Israel
A memorial plaque dedicated to late Azerbaijan’s president Heydar Aliev, which was staked in Israeli city of Hadera’s alley, opened in honor of Aliev, is now a table for Russian-speaking drinkers, Israeli IzRus agency reported.
The alley in honor of Heydar Aliev was opened in this year’s May; however, after the Israeli raid on international Gaza flotilla, Azerbaijan lost interest in the alley and the memorial plaque.
One could hardly think that Heydar Aliev’s memorial plaque will become a table for drinkers when attendees were delivering speeches and making friendly-oriented statements during the alley’s opening ceremony. Three weeks after the alley was opened, Israeli command attacked the international pro-Palestinian aid flotilla, and relations between Azerbaijan and Israel strained. Being a Turkey-oriented country, - and Turkey demanded on international investigation into the incident as its eight citizens were killed in the Israeli raid, -- Azerbaijan lost interest in the alley and in relations with Israel.
Hadera’s Vice-Mayor Roman Gisher said that the city didn’t receive the money they expected to be directed by Azerbaijan for an arrangement of the alley. People in Hadera are now asking who and why wanted all this alley-related boom and solemn ceremonies in dedication to Heydar Aliev.
