Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2010 kicked off
Bristol has launched the four-day International Balloon Fiesta, which celebrates the 50-year golden jubilee of modern ballooning and 100 years of Bristol's key aviation industry (Concorde was built here in the 1960s).
More than half a million people are expected to attend the Fiesta taking place here in southwest England. Some 150 balloons from around the world, including Dubai, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United States, joined in this Britain's biggest outdoor festival.
The skies over Bristol were filled with 81 colorful balloons; many balloons are labeled, however, many of them and their pilots are at the fiesta just for pleasure, so they are logo-free, local media reported.
