Lukashenko denies own statements, Kremlin says has records
Alexander Lukashenko, commenting Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's statement that his Belorussian counterpart had solemnly promised to recognize independence of Abkhazia and South Osetia and hadn’t still done it, said that he “didn’t solemnly vow it anywhere and there is no one who heard that.”
“Solemnly – means when it is aloud … If Russia took steps forward, it would be probably a different situation,” said Belorussian President.
Meanwhile, assistant to the Russian President, Sergey Prixodko, when asked by reporters about Lukashenko’s statements, said that the Kremlin is ready to give to the world the transcript of the OSCE meeting which recorded Lukashenko as saying that he is ready to recognize independence of Abkhazia and South Osetia, RIA Novosti reported.
“With regard to the issue of Belorussia’s recognition of Republic of South Osetia and Republic of Abkhazia, then if you want, we can give to the world the part of transcript of the CSTO meeting that contains Belorussian President’s statements on the issue,” said Sergey Prixodko.
He also added: “We can make public other remarks by Lukashenko which will be interesting to both Belorussian and international public.”
